Hi,
Giveaway
What you have is what you give, right? Selfies we click, videos we share, captions we write, places we visit, books we purchase, food we eat, ideas we produce and so on. Let's see this platform for example. Blogger has helped tremendously to the content creators, travelers, food lovers, pet lovers in sharing what they have. There are several such knowledge sharing platforms, but not all of them are used well. As mentioned earlier, there are purposes to share things. Even if we think we don't have any. The youth engages themselves in the platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, Twitter, Flickr...
Different purposes, different perspectives.
Takeaway
What you give is what you get, isn't it? Takeaway is not just a word used for food deliveries and parcel services. We all have takeaways to give. Read the first paragraph. Why do people connect over social media? Again, there are purposes. We read, watch, like, comment, share, subscribe, store, save and archive numerous content throughout the day. Ever thought why? There's a purpose of consuming social media.
Newness, novelty, the 'want' of something fresh, has been in demand since the evolution of human consciousness. It's one of the purposes to watch reels and videos that something new will be there. But algorithms have different story !
Whatever is consumed is a takeaway for the consumer. Well, takeaways depend on an individual's choices and lived experiences.
We give in order to get more. We consume in order to give more.
So, are we here just to take, consume and acquire things, content, getting likes, views... ? No. The process goes simultaneously. Let's see this picture below.

Infinity Loop |
This loop is not just for social media and the activities we do around it, it's for majority of the things we do around the years we've lived.
The moment we consume the content we have a thought to share it.
Let's take a fictional case here.
A happy-go-lucky teenage boy living in a metro city, plays football, admires Messy, Ronaldo, watches Bollywood and Hollywood films, TV shows in two languages, follows The Beatles...
When he sits down with his phone while scrolling Instagram reels, he stops at a motivational health reel which is useful for his practice. He saves it, shares with his five to six friends with the common interest. Next day while doing workout he realizes that he's just crossed a two more sets of bench dips he had set for his shoulder workout. Excited he, clicks a selfie, writes captions, shares on snapchat and Facebook. Receives likes and comments. Returning back from school, he orders pizza and watches FRIENDS on Netflix, clicks photos and puts an update by tagging few friends. His friends share some memes regarding the same. Sleeps. Day over.
Facts from this story.
Boys location - Metro City
His activities - study, play, songs, workout, films
His mode of documentation - clicking photos, selfies, captions
Sharing platforms - Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat
Now, here are some questions to my readers. Do think upon them and reflect.
Have you observed when he consumes and when he shares? What's his motivation? social media or his real life? Does he lives life on the screen or off the screen? Is this just a fictional case or it happens too often around us?
That's why we need to watch a film: Social Dilemma.
Just to mention some side notes: In religion also we have many references such as Karma and it's outcomes. Sins and merit...
Hey, isn't this a takeaway? :P :D
Stay tuned ! Ciao.
