Orientalism - Edward Said

Hello Readers!

Orientalism is a book written by Edward Said. He emphasized on the two worlds, Orient and the Occident. Orient represent the Eastern countries such as Syria, Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Israel, India, China and others.

In this blog, the summaries are written based on the videos.

From this post, some videos are to be watched.

The summaries of the videos are written here.

1. Edward Said on Orientalism

The link given below is the original source

This website has very revolutionary documentaries about understanding media, power, culture, history and many more subjects.

In this video the topic of Orientalism is explained by Sut Jhally and Edward Said himself. Orientalism is the study of mindset of how Orient is looked by the Occident, in what ways Orient is looked upon and how it is still read in today's context. There are American and European countries who still have prejudicial thoughts regarding the Easter countries, specifically Arab countries. Eastern people are looked at as secretive, devilish, mysterious, and terrifying. Arabic world and especially Islamic countries are looked upon in this way. These countries are subjugated by the beliefs based on some terrifying events such as attack on World Trade Centre.

There is an example of an intro song of 1992 film Aladdin. In which the lyrics contain intense hot and plain, barbaric land which is often a sign of horror. In terms of depicting the land which quite unripe in Occident's understanding is itself the problematic idea.

This is the danger of the single sided story. Orientalism talks about such misconceptions and puts the logical arguments about it.
Several examples of terrorist attacks and jihad attacks are there in the video which narrates only one side of the Eastern countries.

Some understanding of Orientalism from Dr. Balaji Ranganathan's lectures.
Edward Said explanais the idea of the Orient and the Occident. In "Orientalism" he mentions very little about India and discuses more of middle East countries.
The topic also strengthens the historical aspects of the eastern countries. Silk route of Constantinople was very important for Europe to trade with the East. Istanbul became the hub of trading. Because Europe was familiar with Orient's marital production, Turkish food, clothing, culture. This made easy to trade with middle East for Europe.

Orientalism is a style of thought. Its an 18th century imagination. An imperialistic exercise of looking at the Orient with various view points. This thought is seized in 18th century only. Said's Orientalism doesn't go beyond 18th century. It covers scientific Orientalism corporate Orientalism, settling institutionalised, authorising Orientalism.

As an example, S.T. Coleridge's Kubla Khan has the idea of Orient. Kubla Khan was the son of Changez Khan. One more example is of Marco Polo. He was an Arabic explorer.

Edward Said uses Foucauldian method to describe the Orientalism.

Israel and Palestine Issue

This issue is basically a land issue. Any religious establishment, colony, tribe or entity requires land to stay, a land which they can call 'home'. But Israel was unable to find the land anywhere in the world. At first place, there was no country such as Israel. Palestine was known as Ottoman Empire and much of the Arab people residing there. But their conflict with Jewish people became more stronger. Both the Arabs and the Jews were adamant to have the land in Palestine. Many lives were lost in this conflict. West Bank and Gaza strip was remaining. Both became part of Palestine and the remaining land is now called Israel.

Role of Teachers and Learners - ELT Thinking Activity

Hello Readers!

English Language Teaching helps a teacher to know about the linguistic barriers, limitations of teaching English as a second language and gives research outcome from various theorists and essayists. In this blog we shall see some roles of teachers and learners. Both, qualities and roles are mentioned. Because in order to play certain role one has to have some basic qualities.

Role of Teacher

1. Convincing -  One has to be convincing while teaching. With fair logics, arguments and facts a teacher should be well equipped to convince the students.

2. Peacemaker - Peace in terms of remaining neutral while maintaining a teacher-student relation. A teacher also should solve the disputes and difficulties of students. It is necessary to maintain the decorum of the classroom. Problem solving skill is also helpful in peacemaking.

3. Listener and Counsellor - One of the major roles of teachers. Completing syllabus is not the only duty for a teacher but also listening to students external problems related to social and personal life also. One can find a danger of diversion of mind in this role but it's a duty for a teacher to observe the youth temper and cover the minor yet important issues during the explanation of a topic, so that students can get the clear idea of life.

4. Communicative - Communication helps in building a rapport /ræˈpɔː(r)/ with students. One should keep on talking to students to bring the best out of them.

5. Lively and Dynamic Personality - A must have quality in a teacher. Because before a teacher start speaking, personality speaks. Handling a perfect body posture and putting certain gestures while teaching a necessary part of teaching process. It is also helpful in carrying out the non-verbal communication.

6. Open to Change - A teacher should welcome new and innovative changes in teaching. One should also broaden the vision and look for the helpful tools in teaching. ICT - Information and Communication Technology is the best example to mention. Using technology in education is itself a welcome change. Being a teacher, one should not leave the role of learner also. Being a lifelong learner ignites the passion towards teaching.

Role of Learner

1. Observer - A learner's first role is to observe several incidents, current affairs. Reading is the sub-quality of observation. Learner should be well aware about various circulars, schemes and aids, conveyed and offered by educational institutions. The habit of observation also help a learner in bifurcating unnecessary elements which are barrier in learning.

2. Listener and Questioner - Actively listening to teacher and asking apt questions during the discussion helps develop the better and clear idea about the topic. It builds a curiosity also.

3. Dedication - Works to be done in given time. Learner's hundred percent involvement in doing all the tasks and activity is one of the most expected quality.

4. Responsible to Studies - Learner should prioritize the works and assignment given by teachers. Paying attention to every point made by the teacher and reflecting upon them is a part of active participation in classroom interaction. This responsible behavior carries out a good exposure and confidence about that particular topic.

5. Collaborator - A learner is not a lone walker in a path of learning. One should interact with peers and classmates to collaborate and engage in activities carried out as part of any topic. Working in groups, forming a team and accomplishing a task together is also a part of teamwork skills.

6. Decision Maker - Making a right choice at a right time is also important for a learner. At times a learner has to select either of the methods of learning. Especially when a learner is from another state or a country.

7. Integrity - Learner should be honest about their work, ideas and thoughts. In academics, integrity is a synonym to best quality work. This quality should be practiced among the learners right from the school education. Whichever ideas and thoughts are taken from the sources should be well cited. For example, several ideas written in posts of this blog might be taken and used somewhere else. In this case maintaining integrity is necessary.

Thank You!

Thinking Activity - Edgar Allan Poe's Short Stories

Hello Readers !

Literature has captured many sides of society and almost every nook and corner of human psyche also. It doesn't only talks about love, tragic end of life, social issues and political agendas, but it also covers the bizarre, horrific and investigative side of crime, murder and similar darker recesses of human mind. Writers like Edgar Allan Poe, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Conan Doyle have contributed to the genre of this dark fiction.

As part of the curriculum, we have the following short stories of Edgar Allan Poe.

1. The Fall of the House of Usher
2. Cask of Amontillado
3. The Gold-Bug
4. The Purloined Letter
5. The Tell Tale Heart

Every year at the Department of English, invites many expert faculties, and students are benefitted from the knowledge of experts. Dr. Jay Mehta has an interesting way of explaining all these stories of Poe. Before attending his classes we are given the pre thinking activity task to complete. Here is the link of Jay Mehta sir's blog with questions.

Here is the pre-task about Poe's short stories.

Explore AUTHENTIC print, electronic and social media, filter through various incidents that have happened in last 06 months or so. Narrow down your focus to the news headlines of horrible, gruesome and shocking crime stories. (murder, suicide, brutal violence, perversity, terrorism, domestic conflicts, animal abuse and so on).

* Here are some of the news cuttings, screenshots from web series and films and from news video.

Example of sexual perversity and ruthless killing.

Kim is apologizing Mr. Park after killing him.

No sign of Regret

In March 2019, Brenton Tarrant murdered 51 people at two mosques in Christchurch. He streamed live on Facebook this 19 minutes' deadliest killing. It was the deadliest mass shooting by a single gunman in New Zealand’s history.

Here, I found some news videos about this from YouTube in

03. Note down your first impressions while they met your eyes. What thoughts they generated in you? What possible abyss of human mind did you observe that  you can even try to fathom?

Ans. What first came to my mind by reading and watching such scenes and reading those crime stories is why can't we think about everyone equally ? This question lead me to another thought that perhaps upbringing and environment can be the possible responsible element behind all these crimes. No criminal becomes criminal by passion, or hobby. Criminals are created by the very society live in and by the mindset they forcefully imply on one another.

Another thought came about multimedia and entertainment industry. Films, TV shows and OTT platforms and video games are there, firstly to entertain the public, then, to convey the message to masses. It is the responsibility of people to learn how to read media, power, politics and other driving forces which effect us in day to day life. Events which take place in real life highlighted artistically and dramatically in films, TV shows and web series. People mistakenly inspire from the malpractices shown on the screen, and they commit similar crime.

God of War is one of the most horrible, ruthless and savage video game series I have ever played. It gives a very sharp graphical idea about Greek Mythology. Several Greek characters and gods are introduced like Kratos, Deimos, Athena, Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Helios, Thera, Pandora, Thanatos, Gaia, Ares and many others. The game also cinematically narrates the connections of the Greek myths.

Kratos - The Marked One

Kartos fights Hades - The God of the Underworlds

Intro Screen of GOW-III

Its the game for the grown ups and adults because it contains extreme violence, blood and gore, and strong speeches. One has to be mentally balanced and aware that this is the only a video game, not a part of life. Even being an adult, if one fails to carry such mental balance, one may become paranoid or patient of hysteria.

Youth mistakenly takes wrong message from such mediums. They turn towards theft, robbery, murders and rapes also. Sometimes the reason is nothing but feeling a sense of pride only. But not all the times these media platforms are responsible. Society also plays the vital role. We have the example of Hitler. He faced much rejection in childhood.

These criminals are the result of negligence, rejection and hate. They undergo in such traumatic situation that they find a weak medium for bringing out their frustration. Psychology and Criminology studies such cases and take out the reasons why crimes take place and what are the possible reasons for the crime.

To the Lighthouse - Thinking Activity Worksheet

Hello Readers !

Here is the thinking activity worksheet with the answers

1. How can you explain that 'what' Virginia Woolf wanted to say (for example, the complexity of human relationship, the everyday battles that people are at in their relationship with near and dear ones, the struggle of a female artist against the values of middle/upper class society etc.) can only be said in the way she has said?
(Key: The 'How' of the narrative technique is to be discussed along with features of Stream of Consciousness technique which helps Woolf to put in effective manner what she experienced in abstractions.)

Ans:

2. Do you agree: "The novel is both the tribute and critique of Mrs. Ramsay"? (Key: Take some clues from the painting of Mrs. Ramsay drawn by Lily Briscoe and the article by Andre Viola and Glenn Pedersen. Can we read Mrs. R in context of the idea of Ideal Indian Woman - Karyeshu dasi, Karaneshu manthri; Bhojeshu mata, Shayaneshu rambha; Kshamayeshu dharithri, Roopeshu lakshmi; Satkarma yukta, Kuladharma pathni. )

Ans: This is the 18th century thinking. Today, all the new thinking and perspectives about gender roles and identity are welcomed in modern world.

3. Considering symbolically, does the Lighthouse stand for Mrs. Ramsay or the narrator (Virginia Woolf herself who is categorically represented by Lily)? (Key: Take help from the presentation on Symbolism to connect Mrs. Caroline Ramsay with Lighthouse. Secondly, the narrator / author cannot fully disappear from the novel and thus the stoicism of Lily to paint and thus prove that she can paint, is symbolically presented in stoicism of Lighthouse. Read 'lighthouse' symbol from presentation slide with this insight to connect lighthouse with the narrator. Give your concluding remarks in the comment below in this blog)

Ans:

4. In the article by Joseph Blotner, two myths are patterned together. Name the myths? How they are zeroed down to the symbols of 'Window' and 'Lighthouse'? How does the male phallic symbol represent feminine Mrs. Ramsay? (Key: The strokes of light-beams. . . )

Ans:

5. What do you understand by the German term 'Künstlerroman'? How can you justify that 'To The Lighthouse' is 'Künstlerroman' novel? (Key: http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/325047/Kunstlerroman)

Ans:

6. "... the wages of obedience is death, and the daughter that reproduces mothering to perfection, including child-bearing, already has on her cheeks the pallor of death. One reminded here of various texts by Lucy Irigaray, in which she attacks mothers for being, however unwillingly, accomplices in the patriarchal system of oppression." (Viola). In light of this remark, explain briefly Lily's dilemma in 'To The Lighthouse'.

Ans:

7. Movie Screening: Worksheet
Ans: Visited.

8. You have compared the 'beginning' and the 'ending' of the novel and the film adaptation of the novel directed by Colin Gregg (you can see it again in the embedded video below this). Do you think that the novel is more poignant than the movie? If yes, do you ascribe the fact that the power of words is much greater than that of the screen / visuals?

Ans: Well, it is accepted that a picture is worth than thousand words. But in this particular novel, Virginia Woolf creates a picture which is sharper than of the film. Though some frames of the film stand best. It is advisable to always read the original book before watching it's audio visual adaptation. Colin Gregg, however, has captured many interesting frames which exactly reminds readers of the novel. For instance, James biting nails while sharply gazing at his father, signifies the hatred towards his father, Mr. Ramsay.

On the other hand, Virginia Woolf has given the strong and in-depth nuance of the major characters. With the technique of stream of consciousness, she creates a milieu of the Ramsay family in the reader's mind. Woolf has spectacularly captured the thought process of Mrs. Ramsay, James, Mr. Ramsay, Lily Briscoe. While reading the stream of consciousness of the characters, it seems like a reader is watching a moving picture while reading the book. This captivity itself is a successful thing for an author. The novel is poignant than the film. We have ample examples from the text itself.

James, is more closer to her mother. while thinking about his father Mr. Ramsay, He thinks about his mother Mrs. Ramsay, "who was ten thousand times better in every way than he was (James thought),..." (Woolf, 4). On the contrary, James, had so much hatred for his father that, "Had there been an axe handy, a poker, or any weapon that would have gashed a hole in his father’s breast and killed him, there and then, James would have seized it." (Woolf, 4).

"Such were the extremes of emotion that Mr. Ramsay excited in his children’s breasts by his mere presence..." (Woolf, 4).

These are few examples which best explain that the book is more poignant than a film. Though, Colin Gregg's attempt to make an adaptation is also worth noting.

9. How do you interpret the last line of the novel (It was done; it was finished. Yes, she thought, laying down her brush in extreme fatigue, I have had my vision.) with reference to the ending of the film (After the final stroke on the canvass with finishing touch, Lily walks inside the house. As she goes ante-chamber, the light and dark shade makes his face play hide-and-seek. She climbs stairs, puts her brush aside, walks through the dark and light to enter her room. Gently closes the door - speaks: "Closed doors, open windows" - lies on the bed and with some sort of satisfaction utters: "Dearest Briscoe, you are a fool".)

Ans:

10. What does the catalogue named as 'Army and Navy' signify? What does cutting of 'Refrigerator' signify?

Ans: War and consumerism. This connotation of consumerism with association of war is significant. Because it was the time where, purchasing goods and utensils from Army Navy store was thought as some sort of significant thing. People used to take sense of pride in purchasing things from such stores. Army and Navy stores basically keep the best quality goods at reasonable, bargain price for soldiers.

In terms of marketing also we can see that James is cutting a picture of refrigerator from the Army Navy catalogue. We can draw a parallel between war and modernity also. Refrigerator's basic function is to preserve the food for long time. It stops the process of decomposing. It is also a sign of social change as it is a modern device with new technology. Refrigerator conveys the idea of preservation of natural thing. This way it signifies the human mindset of preserving and freezing the things, which is obviously against the natural order. Decomposition of a fruit, or a milk is bad only in the eyes of human being, otherwise it is only a part of natural process. It is a stage of an edible thing, just the way we have childhood, youth and geezerhood in human life. Similarly, spring, autumn, winter, monsoon are just a condition of nature, but it is human who categorize the seasons as good or bad.

11. Why did Virginia give such prominence to the tale of the “Fisherman’s Wife”? In particular, why did she weave such a misogynist tale into the fabric of a book which so eloquently challenges received patriarchal notions about the roles and capabilities of women?

Ans: Mrs. Ramsay reads a story of the "Fisherman's Wife" to children. The original theme of the story is materialistic greed of a fisherman's wife. The story, connotes a false belief about the greedy nature of women, and has a misogynistic tone. But here, Virginia Woolf subverts the reference and uses the story as a sharp voice of women in front of patriarch society. Woolf, perhaps, wanted to show the openness of speech that fisherman's wife is having and demanding various things from her husband, and also wanted to be a rebel in the time of Victorian mindset where women's voice was almost silent or not heard.

12. How is India represented in 'To The Lighthouse'? (Read this blog for passing reference)

Ans: India is referred six times in the novel.

13. Write summaries of these articles:

Demo of Embedding Audio Files to Blog

Hello Readers!

Embedding video and audio files are necessary for better user-friendly experience, when you are using your own website or running your blog pages. It was only in 2008 when HTML5, an advanced version of HTML was introduced. After that many enthusiast developers made it easy to use. Though many machine languages such as Java, CSS, Python are coming with more simple interface. Publishing and uploading content on web is based on such machine languages.

I wanted to embed the audio file in blogger since long and finally I could make this happen. Here is the embedded song for demo. Play the audio file below. Download it if you like.

This way you can also embed your own voice as audio file. If you are interested in podcasting and recording your talks and lectures then this is the best method. It can be helpful in teaching also. Let's see the process step by step.

Steps 1: Copy the following code to your blogger page. Remember, paste this code only in the HTML editor, not in composing mode.

<audio controls src="https://docs.google.com/uc?export=open&amp;id=XXXXXXXXXX"> </audio>

The highlighted text will be the ID of the audio file. This can be found in the link you've copied from Google Drive.

Step 2: Upload the audio file to the Google Drive. You will find the file uploaded like this. . .

Step 3: Right click on the file and click on share.

Step 4: You will see a sub window opened for sharing permissions. Click on Get Link Copy only this portion of the link. As mentioned in the image below. Only the highlighted part is important to copy.

Step 5: Go to Blogger HTML page again. And paste it like it is shown below.
Please be careful while pasting the link because every element of the code is important.

<audio controls src="https://docs.google.com/uc?export=open&amp;id=paste the highlighted part here"> </audio>

Step 6: Publish your blog. You will see the embedded audio just the way the song you've listened. You'll also be able to download the audio.

Thank You!

These resources helped me a lot while learning this process.

English Language Teaching - Reflective Blog

Hello Readers!

"If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his own language, that goes to his heart."
- Nelson Mandela

Human beings are linguistically adaptive to receive and to convey the message, and the process of communication takes place; thanks to the system of language. Language doesn't only help in transmitting the information but also enables people to share their emotions. In the context of India, multiple languages are spoken. In such arena, teaching English language is also a challenging task. In this country, people know more than one languages. If an individual is from Kerala, it might be knowing a regional language of Kerala and English language also. If one is from Maharashtra, it might be knowing Marathi, Hindi and English also.

So, This above quote directly connects to the bilingualism and multilingualism. If you are visiting a place where your native language is not spoken and still you find a speaker who knows multiple languages, and talks in your language, how would you feel ? Of course it's a feeling of getting water in the desert.! (not oasis obviously !!!) It's a feeling of meeting someone of your homeland.

Ganesh N Devy, a renowned literary critic has studied languages and also talked about how languages generate, sustain, submerge into another language and die. It is necessary to know languages first, then we can come to a particular one. Here is the video, in which G N Devy explains the language as a system of communication. Watch time 19 minutes.

In this blog, some questions are answered as a part of a reflection of learning experience during the sessions of ELT lectures.

1. What is the role of English Language in India according to you with reference to any one essay discussed in the class?
* English language, in light of India, plays a very significant role. Because it doesn't only makes an individual globally connected but also enables it to elaborate and explore more in almost all the fields.

According to the essay by

2. What are the challenges you faced while learning English Language as?
* During the primary years of my schooling, I didn't face any challenges while learning English language. Though I have studied in a regional medium language school, but I got the hold on this language very early. Specifically in terms of grammar-composition and reading comprehension. I was also good at remembering spelling because I used to practice the vocabulary by speaking it aloud. I could relate my vocals directly to the spelling. Such mental exercises made me a good learner of English language. But, I started speaking English language naturally, much later, when I was in 12th standard. This much gap between learning the language and speaking, is only because of lack of environment. Being a multilingual individual, I lacked the oneness in the linguistic environment. But I would state that my LSRW skills are still developing.

3. Write your reflection regarding the classroom activities. What challenges you faced in doing the activities as teachers.
* As all the ELT sessions were conducted in an online mode due to the COVID19 pandemic, classroom activities were less interactive. But still there was a lot of learning while participating in the activities such as planning a lesson for learners, introducing them a new vocabulary etc. Here, a detailed blog post about these activities is mentioned. Have a quick view on it. Click the link below.

In order to study this ELT paper one has to think like a language teacher. So as a teacher, when I prepared any lesson plan, I was quite confused about the methods, that which methods would be better to introduce a topic to the learners? How can the age group of learners I had selected be well versed with the flow of teaching I have?

While doing the activity of selecting a profession and finding registers and sub-registers for that field, it was quite difficult to think outside the preset box of vocabulary. Because EST - English for Science and Technology is quite unexplored part for me in terms of terminology.

4. How do you see your future with the English Language?
* I see many opportunities and better prospects with the English language. It may help me understand any culture I am in. It will open many doors to some of the fields such as teaching and content creation, where language plays a very vital role. Nowadays, much emphasis is laid on the linguistic perfection, as it is the time of post-truth, misinformation and fake narratives. In such environment we require a dedicated, enthusiastic human resources which can curb any such linguistic plague in short period of time. Hermeneutically also, we require better interpretation of various things. Even in the 21st century many blurred pictures are yet to be cleared through firm and authentic arguments. All this can happen if the language is filtered from higher strata to lower strata of classes. In order to meet the demands of the upcoming time, one will have to work with English language. I also see better opportunities where the gaps of languages are yet to be filled. English language has the ability to carry almost every discourses and thoughts of other languages. I also see a beautiful blend of multilingualism in India. It would definitely lead me to the areas which I want to explore.

Thank You!

Rivers and Tides: Andy Goldsworthy Working with Time - Frame Study from Documentary

Hello Readers !

Nature, an independent entity which operates autonomously, taking all pride to change by itself and growing from nothing to large landscapes, trees, streams, oceans. forests, mountains and so on. It can also be seen as an art.

Art, if its prepared in a controlled environment it lasts longer. Many art installation are put in museums and at art centers. Under the shelter of around the walls, art can only increase the ego of an artist or monetary valuation, but what if one allows nature to interfere in one's created art ? What if the art sustains for long in open nature ? And what if it does not ?

Rivers and Tides is a documentary film focuses on the nature of nature, its responsiveness to human beings. Andy Goldsworthy, an environmental artist who works with time. He makes several art sculptures taking raw material from nature itself and observes that how nature deals with that art, and also that how long it goes to sustain in an open nature. In this blog a frame study has been done to explore the themes and symbols of nature and its reaction to the art sculptures made by Andy Goldsworthy.

Rivers and Tides: Andy Goldsworthy Working with Time

Director: Thomas Riedelsheimer
Screenplay: Thomas Riedelsheimer
Released: 7 March 2002 (Germany)

* River - a symbol of movement and progress. It also signifies time, because just like time, river never stops flowing. It's flow is also a symbol of successive continuity.
* Tide - a symbol of carrying away with something. It also symbolizes destruction.

"Art for me is a form of nourishment. I need land."
"Art for me is a form of nourishment. I need land."

A design created on the surface of a frozen water.

This shape is made up of ice pieces. It is quickly melted within few hours or minutes.

This is the result of the hard work done by humans and . . .

The art is vanished by the sunrays.

For this art, Goldsworthy chooses a place where river merges with ocean. Before tide comes, Goldsworthy prepares a round shaped wooden structure which looks like a roof of a religious building, and as if a hole is kept intentionally open for ventilation. For this art, he uses soaked tree branches and sticks.

But when the water surface increases by tide, the structure starts floating and is carried away. Goldsworthy here says, it doesn't seem like destruction but it looks like it is being taken to another place.

"On the moment when something collapses, its intensely disappointing." He reflects on the collapse of the stones. "This is the fourth time it's fallen and each time I got know stone little bit more, I got higher each time, so it grew in proportion to my understanding of the stone and that's really what one of the things my artists trying to do. He is trying to understand the stone. I obviously don't understand it well enough, yet."

He wants to make stone art in the shape of eggs. He tries to make it at different locations, one in the forests, a plain land nearby and one at the seashore. Then he observes the trajectory of both the places. One is covered with green plants and other one is surrounded by water by the time of tide.

If any art is kept under the guardianship or under vigilance, then it has no importance.

Stone art at the roadside.

Ice structure.

This frame has cleverly captured the natural design of stones. It is also a similar to the design Andy Goldsworthy often draws in the documentary. This ups and downs and highs and the lows are also engraved in in human nature also. This frame has captured that rendition.

Goldsworthy prepares such art in various locations in nature and observes the natural process, whether it is destroyed quickly or not.

Each stone is kept very carefully because it's setup is necessary while creating any art.

Here, even after the tide is gone, Goldsworthy's art sustains.

A small area that is nurturing youth and blossoming with the blend of nature. Just like nature, these player also cultivating sportsman spirit. A temperament of moving on in life.

He also captures raw sketches in his diary.

This frame is captured from helicopter and it seems that this design has inspired Andy Goldsworthy to create the similar ones in different parts of nature.

This is the only frame where we find a contrast to the art he is creating in nature and the archived pieces of arts are preserved at his house. Also a blend of technology as we can see a desktop at the table. In short, art which he creates in nature is vanished very soon, within few seconds and minutes but here in his house he has preserved all the arts he has made.

Here, Andy Goldsworthy is trying to stop his art being vanished by his hand but nature has to be itself. He has created this 'web' with small wooden sticks and joined them through thorns.

His frustration is reflected in this frame. This is how humans are tend to preserve somethings and if it doesn't happen we all get frustrated and anxious. But it doesn't matter how much we are frustrated but how quickly we become free from that and overcome our anxiety is important.

This is the woolen art. Strings are spread all across the stone edges and its shining in the sunlight. It is also evident that wool is also something what we directly get from nature. Sheep is the animal who is quite rigid in nature and always follows the herd. But the wool we get from it, is quite opposite in nature. Wool is a symbol of tenderness and softness, which signifies positivity and kindness. But sheep is narrated very differently in various fields such as politics.

Even if someone travels in nature and wants to create something. No other instruments or other objects are required. Human body itself words as an instrument while working with nature.

Here are the seasonal changes recorded in the design made up from wooden sticks.

This frame is a kind of paradoxical in nature. Andy Goldsworthy here puts yellow flowers in a steady spot of water just nearby the fast flowing stream.

This wall of stones is a kind of dialogue to the trees.

This documentary is beyond the words. It takes us to a spiritual journey and transforms all our understanding of nature. One can surely say a true artist is always ready to witness the art's decay. It is possible only if one is spiritually mature.

Thank You!
