"હેપ્પી બાળ ડે"

હેપ્પી ચિલ્ડ્રનસ ડે – બધાંને,

માંડું છું એક વાત.

મરવા ન દેશો એ ભવિષ્યને

ચરબીજન્ય વાતો થી,

ન ભરશો એને

ખાલી ખોટા લેબલ થી

ન બાંધશો એને

વિધવિધ સામાજિક કેબલ થી.

એણે ક્યારેક એમ કર્યું,

ખૂબ ચડ્યું તોફાને,

રમકડાં તોડ્યાં, ટીવી તોડ્યું,

ખૂબ રડ્યું ને ખૂબ લડ્યું મેદાને

માર્યું, અને માર ખાધો ય ખરો

પણ ખૂબ શીખ્યું અભ્યાસે.

જીવતું રાખજો એ બાળકને જેને...

જેને નાચવું છે, ગાવું છે, ખાવું છે,

દોડીને થાકીને પડી આખડીને,

ક્યાંક પહોંચવું છે.

સમજવું છે, સમજાવવું છે,

સર્જવું છે, ચિતરવું છે,

ખૂબ પૂછવું છે, ને જાણવું છે,

જીવનને જસ્ટ જોવું નથી,

પણ નોખું, નવતર કશુંક કરીને...

જીવવું છે.

જે દુનિયાએ એને આપ્યું

એ દુનિયાને કશુંક દેવું છે.

ઝંખે છે એના કાન –

વાર્તાઓ,

માનવકથાઓ, વીતક કથાઓ,

ને જીભ – આગવી ભાષા.

ઝંખે છે એની આંખ –

વિસ્મય, સુંદરતા અને જ્ઞાન.

કહો એને –

કડવા સત્યો, ગીત સૂરીલા,

કરાવો –

અનુભવના હળવા બોધ;

આપો એને –

થોડીક તાળીઓ,

થપકીઓ, હં હોંકારા,

ને મીઠા હીંચકાઓ.

દરેક યુવાન, વયસ્ક અને વૃદ્ધમાં

સાંકડ મુકડ એ બેઠું છે.

જોજો રખે એ મરે નહીં,

એને કોઈ મારે નહિ,

ખુદ સચવાઈને સાચવજો,

એ બાળકનું બસ,

ધ્યાન રાખજો.
